On to Montrichard

The road towards Borré was downhill and we coasted down without a thought for the return back up out of the valley towards Blois. We had a sense of freedom that only such a descent provides.  When we hit the Cher we turned towards Montrichard and soon noticed an archway underneath the railway which ran parallel to the river between it and the road down which we cycled.  The archway was underused, the path grassed over showing no trace of traffic having passed through.  Nevertheless we ducked through and we were rewarded with a wonderful sight, a path suited to cycles which followed the river.  Nirvana.  The breadth of the Cher and the unexpectedness of meeting it was emotional.  What joy!  N ature never fails to inspire you.

We saw these troglodyte dwellings in the hillside before emerging at the bridge which was the confluence of the Cher and the Loire - Stunning.
